JEE Greenovation Challenge: Innovate for a Green Future

This competition, which is proudly supported by Nigerian Conservation Foundation and World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO), seeks to support indigenous efforts to address climate change by encouraging providers and seekers of environmentally friendly technologies.

Introduction

Jackson, Etti & Edu (“JEE”) is a full-service, Sector-focused, Commercial Law Firm with one of Africa’s leading Intellectual Property Practices.

The World IP Day was initiated by the World Intellectual Property Organization (“WIPO”) as an annual event (every 26 April) to celebrate Intellectual Property and its contributions to the development of modern society.

This year’s edition is the 5th in the series of what has become the flagship event of our multiple award winning Intellectual Property Practice.

The bulk of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (“SDG”) 2030, demand global accountability on safeguarding Mother Nature and show us how global sustainable development depends on the environment. Examples are SDG 6 (Clean Water & Sanitation), SDG 7 (Affordable & Clean Energy), SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities & Communities) & SDG 13 (Climate Change).

The theme for the 2020 World IP Day is “Innovate for a Green future.” This year’s campaign puts innovation – and the IP rights that support it – at the heart of efforts to create a green future and our competition tagged “JEE Greenovation Challenge… Innovation for a Green Future” is based on this theme. The idea behind this challenge is to support indigenous efforts to address climate change by encouraging providers and seekers of environmentally friendly technologies. This challenge would recognise the innovation and creation of environmentally sustainable technologies, processes, and methods, products, or services.
