Nigeria Data Protection Act GAID 2025 Analysis & Implications for local & foreign Data Controllers & Processors
Description
The Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC) has introduced the Nigeria Data Protection Act General Application and Implementation Directive (NDP ACT-GAID 2025) , a significant regulatory framework designed to strengthen data privacy and protection rights. This directive introduces crucial changes, including AI governance, classifications of data controllers and processors, regulatory obligations, compliance measures, and a revised liability framework. Full implementation is scheduled for September 2025, with new fee structures taking effect in January 2026.
In light of these developments, Jackson, Etti & Edu, a leading Data Protection Compliance Organisation, is hosting a special private webinar for our clients and select businesses with a data presence in Nigeria. This session will provide an in-depth analysis of the GAID, discuss its business implications, and offer practical, compliance-focused solutions to help organizations seamlessly adapt to the new framework.
