PartnerKunle is a Partner in the Corporate Commercial Department of the firm. He co-heads the firm's Financial Services Sector and leads the Corporate Mergers & Acquisitions team, and oversees all Sector Heads.
About
Kunle has over 15 years of experience advising regional and international clients on capital markets; private equity and mergers and acquisitions, and clients rely on his advice to successfully complete their transactions. They regularly seek his laser-like focus and fluency in every aspect of Corporate and Commercial law.
Kunle’s specialism is Capital Markets, Mergers & Acquisitions, Private Equity, and Taxation, and he has advised on several high-level debt and equity issuance transactions with considerable experience in Private Placements; Right Issues; Public Offers; and Bond Issuance as well as Regulatory and Compliance matters relating to Government debt issuances.
He has advised on big ticket Private Equity and Merger & Acquisitions within banking, insurance, oil and gas and manufacturing sectors. The acquisition of Union Bank of Nigeria Plc by a consortium of private equity firms in which he was involved was described in the IFLR 2013 as the largest private equity deal in Sub-Saharan Africa.
Kunle has been recognised in the International Financial Law Review (IFLR) 1000 since 2019 for his impeccable work. Reviews published by the IFLR include “Kunle was very helpful in getting the transaction to close, going over and beyond volunteering to help with issues that were not strictly legal. I was impressed with Kunle and how focused he was on getting the deal to close”. Kunle has also served as Financial Secretary of Nigeria’s Capital Markets Solicitors Association (CMSA).
